Seattle Interactive Conference Sets 2012 Agenda, Adds Technology Legend David Bunnell, Actor Tom Skerritt

	SEATTLE--Organizers of the Seattle Interactive Conference today announced that technology media pioneer David Bunnell, (creator of PC Magazine, PC World and Macworld magazines, developer of Microsoft’s first logo) as well as Hollywood icon Tom Skerritt (Top Gun, A River Runs Through It, Picket Fences), have joined the agenda for SIC 2012, set for October 29-30 at The Conference Center at The Washington State Convention Center. SIC 2012 organizers have posted a regularly updated agenda at (www.seattleinteractive.com/agenda).

	“We have developed an agenda that provides a of mix of iconic companies and personalities with newer, up-and-coming organizations and individuals who stand to play a leading role in what all of us will be experiencing and talking about for years to come.”

	Bunnell launched Personal Computing magazine in 1977: In exchange for articles written by his friends Bill Gates and Paul Allen, Bunnell worked on several Microsoft projects, including the design of the company’s original logo. In 1981, he started PC Magazine in the spare bedroom of his house in San Francisco. Following PC Magazine, he created PC World, and in 1984, working in secret with Steve Jobs, he published Macworld on the very day the Macintosh was introduced. He has since developed and run several other media properties and, most recently, virtual social worlds. Bunnell will deliver a standalone presentation, “From Type Slugs to Tweets (and many stops in-between).” He also will appear in a panel discussion, “Changing the Game of News,” featuring print, online, and broadcast journalists exploring the massive transformations taking place in the world of journalism and broader information sharing.

	Meanwhile, Skerritt will be featured in “Has Video Killed the Television Star?”, joining Viacom Digital Entertainment EVP of Digital Media Erik Flannigan, Indieflix CEO Skilla Andreen and Seattle International Film Festival associate director Carl Spence in discussing the fundamental changes affecting how video is produced, distributed, and consumed. Bunnell and Skerritt are the latest additions to an agenda that mixes leaders from established giants such as AOL, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Facebook, and Starbucks with scores of earlier-stage companies and entrepreneurs—all of whom are defining the technology and media landscapes of tomorrow. Comedian John Hodgman (The Daily Show, Bored to Death – and who memorably played “The PC” in Apple’s popular “Get a Mac” TV ads) will join a panel hosted by Seattle’s own John Roderick; meanwhile, new media visionary Jason Silva and legendary rock-and-roll guitarist and social activist Wayne Kramer are among the event’s many other notable personalities.

	Panels and presentations dedicated to the tracks of “Develop,” “Design,” and “Digital” will cover the very latest developments in specific areas such as Big Data, Social Enterprise/Collaboration, Search Engine Optimization, Digital Subscription Services, Mobile Content and Advertising, Social Media Management, Digital Music, Digital Engineering and Online Technology, Mobile Search, and dozens of other topics.

	“SIC 2012 provides a rare opportunity for attendees to interact directly with some of the online technology and digital entertainment sectors’ most influential personalities and companies,” said Brian Rauschenbach, Seattle Interactive Conference founder and curator. “We have developed an agenda that provides a of mix of iconic companies and personalities with newer, up-and-coming organizations and individuals who stand to play a leading role in what all of us will be experiencing and talking about for years to come.”

	To accompany a packed two days of programming and presentations, SIC 2012 has a full slate of after-hours networking, entertainment, and social events.

	Seattle, WA – August 29, 2012 – Organizers of the Seattle Interactive Conference today announced that its 2012 event, SIC 2012, will be held October 29-30, with “Game Changers” as its theme and featuring a powerful agenda ranging from internationally renowned new media visionary Jason Silva to Daily Show comedian John Hodgman and leaders from stalwarts such as Microsoft, Google, Facebook, AOL, Starbucks, and Amazon. They will be joined by senior executives from companies such as Hulu, Cheezburger, Razorfish, and dozens of other established and emerging companies from throughout the US and beyond. SIC 2012 features sanctioned networking events, a full slate of evening entertainment, a “Laptop Battle,” as well as the first-ever Seattle meet-up for readers of Engadget, a popular international Web-based magazine focused on gadgets and consumer electronics.

	Tickets for SIC 2012, two full days dedicated to the convergence of online technology, creativity, and emerging trends in one of the world's most innovative cities, are available now exclusively online via the SIC Web site.

	Set for The Conference Center at the Washington State Convention Center in downtown Seattle, SIC 2012 showcases programming tracks focused on “Develop,” “Design,” and “Digital,” with dedicated programs ranging from online commerce and social media to gaming, interactive advertising, entertainment, enterprise collaboration, and more. After a successful 2011 debut that attracted more than 3,000 attendees, SIC 2012 will accommodate up to 4,000 attendees and more than 150 participating companies.

	SIC 2012 will also bring an expanded base of digital music and entertainment-related programming to the docket, providing companies like Rhapsody an arena for exchanging perspectives with personalities such as musician John Roderick and the Daily Show’s Hodgman (also known for his portrayal of the “PC” in contrast to Justin Long’s “Mac” in Apple’s popular “Get a Mac” advertising campaign). Additional luminaries from the technology and entertainment sectors will explore technology’s capacity to do good, via “Game-Changers for Humanity,” while a panel of print, broadcast, and digital media leaders will discuss the ever-changing landscape of journalism in 2012 and beyond. Entrepreneurs will also figure prominently in the programming, with 2012 Emmy-nominated speaker Elan Lee having recently raised $215 million for his Fourth Wall Studios venture. Venture capitalists and angel investors will provide SIC 2012 with additional perspectives.

	“The Pacific Northwest is only strengthening its position as a global powerhouse in the world of interactive technology, whether we’re talking about traditional technology giants, entrepreneurial ventures in digital media and advertising, or additional areas emerging on an almost daily basis,” said Brian Rauschenbach, SIC curator. “SIC 2012 is here to generate important discussions about what lies ahead and how all of us should be prepared to address the exciting and challenging times upon us.”

	Some key additions to SIC 2012 include:

	• Engadget Meet-up: On Monday night, October 29, SIC will produce and co-host Engadget’s debut “Reader Meet-up” in Seattle, following several standing-room-only Engadget events for technology and digital media professionals held in such markets as New York and San Francisco. Slated for Showbox at the Market, Engadget’s meet-up is free-of-charge to SIC attendees and the general public and will provide a dynamic forum in which attendees can exchange ideas with Engadget’s editors as well as have the opportunity to win numerous gadgets and other technology prizes.

	• The SIC Laptop Battle provides a competitive event for laptop computer musicians to match skills against one another, showcasing a combination of sound design, competition, and stage performance. Created by Seattle entrepreneur Zach Huntting, Laptop Battle involves one-on-one competitions done in three-minute rounds. Structured as a single-elimination tournament, Laptop Battle will use a panel of distinguished judges as well as crowd response to determine which competitors advance to the championship match. SIC will soon post registration information on its Web site for those interested in competing;

	• Sanctioned networking events, happy hours and entertainment: Working with sponsors such as Bing, Filter, AOL, WINTR and others, SIC will provide attendees with several after-hours choices in terms of networking events, meet-ups, and music/entertainment in venues throughout downtown Seattle.

According to Rauschenbach, SIC was developed not only to cater to the Seattle-area technology community, but to draw attendees, speakers, and participating companies from throughout the US and beyond, providing a place to exchange ideas, information and share visions for the future. With an early-bird pricing points of only $499 (Platinum Conference Pass) and $399 (Gold Conference Pass) to attend, the event is deliberately priced to be as accessible as possible, at a time when many other multi-day conferences charge $1000 or more to attend. SIC 2012 plans to post its complete agenda in the coming weeks.

	SEATTLE, Oct 04, 2011 -- Seattle Interactive Conference, a major two-day event celebrating the convergence of online technology, creativity, and emerging trends in one of the world's most innovative cities, today announced its agenda, along with a series of powerful programming alliances and details for its "Battle of the Geek Bands" event.

	Set for November 2-3 at The Conference Center at the Washington State Convention Center in downtown Seattle, Seattle Interactive Conference (SIC) will feature more than 50 visionary speakers in areas ranging from online commerce and social media to gaming, interactive advertising, entertainment, and more. Some of the many highlights include: "Transforming the Digital Music Frontier," a lunchtime keynote featuring Sir Mix-a-Lot, Death Cab for Cutie bassist Nick Harmer, KEXP's Aaron Starkey and Tim Bierman, manager of Pearl Jam's immensely popular online fan club; "The Transformation of News Media," examining how interactive technology continues to affect the business of news media daily; a presentation by Molly Norris, head of interactive for The World Bank; and Online gaming visionary Ed Fries of Halo 2600. SIC will also include a packed schedule of business networking opportunities and distinctly Seattle-flavored social events.

	"We developed the Seattle Interactive Conference with the singular purpose of bringing a world-class interactive technology event to Seattle and the Pacific Northwest," said Brian Rauschenbach, SIC curator. "With more than 50 interactive industry luminaries and thought leaders set to present, powerful additional programming partnerships and an array of uniquely Seattle social and networking events, such as Battle of the Geek Bands, we are thrilled to soon be opening our doors to attendees from throughout the US and beyond."

	Events, alliances and other highlights include:

	-- "Battle of the Geek Bands" and SIC Opening Party on Tuesday evening, November 1 featuring a special concert by The Presidents of the United States of America: Sponsored by FILTER and set for 8:00 pm (doors at 7:00), in Seattle's Showbox SoDo, Battle of the Geek Bands was developed to showcase the many great musicians who happen to work throughout the vibrant online technology sector. Five qualifying bands will get to perform on-stage at The Showbox SoDo that evening. The performances will be judged by a celebrity panel of music industry luminaries and geek VIPs including the iconic Sir Mix-a-Lot, along with Jason Finn and Chris Ballew of The Presidents of the United States of America and John Cook, co-founder of GeekWire. The evening's emcee will be John Roderick, lead singer/guitarist for the Long Winters and an entertainment media veteran. Winners get an SIC trophy, bragging rights and a cash prize. For more information on how bands can enter: http://bit.ly/pBkKHv . Following the contest, The Presidents of the United States of America will perform a special set for all SIC attendees.

	-- Windows Azure (Microsoft) will provide SIC attendees with two days of technical sessions and access to product and technical experts. The Cloud Experience track is for experienced developers who want to learn how to leverage the cloud for mobile, social and Web application scenarios. No matter what platform or technology involved, these sessions will provide attendees with a deeper understanding of cloud architecture, back-end services and business models to scale for user demand and business growth. Cloud Experience sessions and the expert-staffed lab are open to all registered attendees of SIC.

	-- Gnomedex: This event is now coming out of retirement, if only for a day on November 2, to join the SIC experience and further engender this community's spirit. For ten years, Gnomedex brought to the stage hundreds of thought leaders and many influencers before they were influential. Innovation, inspiration, and ideation are still very much alive, and Gnomedex festivities will once again kindle excitement around these values. As has been true for every one of its past events, every Gnomedex participant will be treated like a VIP.

	-- Biznik: The overall theme for SIC is transformations, and the entrepreneurs on the Biznik Entrepreneurial Stage get what it takes to move businesses from here to there. A transformation from an old way of doing things to a new way requires the right mix of innovation and risk. Throughout the day of November 3, the presenters on the Biznik Stage will examine that risk; what transformations take place in employees, products, and cultures when true innovation changes how the game is played.

	-- TechStars Demo Day - On November 3rd, SIC is co-producing TechStars Demo Day, which targets the investment community and which will unveil ten exciting new companies from the TechStars class of 2011. Held at Seattle's Showbox SoDo, Demo Day will give each company six-minute presentation windows during which they can highlight their respective businesses and investment opportunities. The style is fun and entertaining - it's a different kind of pitch event that includes amazing opportunities for networking. TechStar's after-party will merge with SIC's Closing Party at Showbox SoDo that evening for a powerful and fun night of networking and socializing.

	-- SIC://City: This is far more than a standard exhibit hall. SIC://City is a showplace of truly unique spaces, not standard booths, but "blank canvases" companies can transform into a space all their own for use throughout the conference's duration. Exhibiting companies will have the opportunity to get creative, have meaningful interactions, and leave powerful impressions. SIC://City provides a venue at which companies can demo, showcase and sell their offerings, or just create an experience to spread the word while providing potential customers and partners a unique place to meet, greet and experience each businesses first-hand. More information: http://bit.ly/qT8ZLL .

	-- AdReady: This leading demand-side online display advertising platform will run its own annual partners' program on November 3 at the SIC venue and is encouraging its customers to participate directly in SIC. "As a sponsor, we want to see the conference succeed, as participants, we want to be a part of the conversation, but as a company we want to have our partners help shape the future of online advertising," said Karl Siebrecht, CEO, AdReady. "Whether for agencies, advertisers or publishers, that future is beyond search, more than a banner and even more than can be found in the social media."

	OTHER SIC EVENTS

	Other SIC social events open to all Full Conference and Flex Pass holders include:

	-- An after-party featuring another exclusive, only-for-SIC concert by Shabazz Palaces and a Vinyl vs. Analog DJ set by Fourcolorzack in Showbox at the Market on Wednesday evening, November 2: Doors at 7:00 pm, show starts at 8:00;

	-- Closing Party featuring special musical guests on the evening of Thursday, November 3 at Showbox SoDo: Doors at 7:00 pm, show starts at 8:00;

	-- Meet-ups and other targeted business networking opportunities throughout the event.

	Pathable to Power Attendee Community at Seattle Interactive Conference’s November 2-3 Event

	Seattle, WA – August 2, 2011 – Seattle Interactive Conference (www.seattleinteractive.com), a major two-day event celebrating the convergence of online technology, creativity, and emerging trends in one of the world's most innovative cities, today announced a partnership with Pathable, Inc. (www.pathable.com) in which Pathable will host the conference’s social media community for attendees. Pathable will offer Seattle Interactive Conference (SIC) attendees the ability to network before before, during and after the event through a rich, social media-based online community.

	Set in The Conference Center at the Washington State Convention Center in downtown Seattle, SIC will feature visionary speakers in areas ranging from online commerce and social media to gaming, interactive advertising, entertainment, and more. The conference will also include a packed schedule of business networking opportunities and distinctly Seattle-flavored social events.

	SIC and Pathable’s partnership will give attendees the chance to see those from their respective existing LinkedIn and Twitter networks who are attending, as well as discover and connect with new contacts through a unique tag-based system. Pathable takes the difficulty out of meeting like-minded attendees by recommending “matches,” simplifying the process of connecting with those who share interests, starting conversations around a specific session or a topic of interest. The robust Pathable community also allows attendees to build and sync their personal conference schedule with calendars on iPhone, Blackberry or Outlook. A real-time Twitter feed within the community will give attendees a streaming look at what’s being said about SIC. The interactive tradeshow map will make it easy to find vendors’ locations in the hall and see which reps will be on-site. The SIC community will be available before, during and after the event, encouraging year-round networking.

 “Through research and testing, we know that the biggest reason that people come to events is to network with others and that the networking shouldn’t stop and start within the event dates” said Jordan Schwartz, CEO and co-founder of Pathable. “Pathable’s technology takes the pain out of meeting people, and better yet, lets attendees see who they should be meeting to help make those meaningful connections.”

 “As part of a wide range of programming and events, SIC will provide a unique forum for professional networking and we are very pleased to be working with Pathable on that front,” said Brian Rauschenbach, SIC curator.
