SIC://2014 SPOTLIGHTS MAKERS

We are in the midst of a DIY revolution. Commerce and culture are driven by innovation like never before. With easier access to tools, ideas are transformed into action faster. Digital artisans merge creativity with experience to develop new assets and opportunities. As a result, brands and businesses must leverage change at an entirely new pace.

Seattle is in a unique position to influence this conversation. Our thriving tech industry has always been driven by digital pioneers.

SIC 2014 will examine this evolving landscape by turning to those with firsthand experience redefining the industry. They are the Makers; thought-leaders who synthesize creative inspiration with the next big idea, and companies that successfully cultivate innovation and then translate it into commerce. What can we learn from their experience integrating new ideas? Is your brand positioned to leverage change? What are the critical new tools that you need, now?

Join the conversation at the Seattle Interactive Conference, October 15-16, 2014.

SIC 2014 Speakers

Judging by the response to our call for submissions and the reaction to our solicitations, the “Makers” theme is proving to be a great springboard for ideas from a dynamic mix of new and familiar faces telling stories and journeys that will be fundamental to the way we approach tech business and culture in the future. We can’t wait to share more information about the emerging agenda of speakers and topics for 2014, but for now here is a sneak peek of what’s in-store:

Getting to Seattle

We’re pleased to offer discounts for your flight to SIC from our travel partner Alaska Airlines. Book online at AlaskaAir.com and use the code: ECMV547 for 7% off your flight. This code is good for all cities served by Alaska Airlines.

Ground Transportation

Central Link light rail travels between Sea-Tac Airport and Westlake Station in downtown Seattle, just blocks away from The Conference Center at the Washington State Convention Center, where SIC will be held. Link trains run every 7.5-15 minutes, depending on the time of day. Total trip time is usually 50 minutes from Airport to Downtown. Service is available from 5 am to 1 am Monday - Saturday. Adult fares range from $2.00 to $2.75 depending on the distance of your trip. More info at Sound Transit.

Taxi stands are located on the 3rd level of the parking garage at the airport.

Uber is a very convenient way to get to and from your hotel. Uber fares from the airport are a $50 flat fee for an UberBLACK and $65 in a upgraded UberSUV.

Towncar services can be arranged in advance.

Amtrak or the Bolt Bus both service Seattle directly. Schedules, costs, and times vary depending on your departure dates and locations. Most of our Portland attendees prefer to take Amtrak. The train will drop you at the King Street Station where you can hop a quick cab into downtown or walk up to the Pioneer Square Lightrail Station (3rd Ave / James St), which is just a few stops to Westlake Center Station (Downtown Seattle, near the SIC venue).

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer discounts for groups, non-profits and students?

Yes, yes and yes.

If you are interested in bringing a group of larger than 10 people, please email us at groups@seattleinteractive.com to receive a discounted registration code.

If you are a registered non-profit organization or a current student or faculty member, you can select the Student Pass option as part of the online registration process. Please note, you will be required to pick up Student Passes at Will Call and must have your valid student ID available to verify your status.

I would like to attend the conference one day and give my pass to another co-worker on the other day. Is this kosher with you guys?

We know that everyone is busy and sometimes can't be out of the office for two days. We don't mind badge swaps as long as you don't mind having someone else's name on your badge.

I purchased my ticket but didn't get an email confirmation or receipt yet.

You should receive an email confirmation receipt from support@strangertickets.com immediately after your transaction is completed. If you do not see the email in your inbox then be sure to check your spam folder in case it got flagged as spam.

Where is the best place to park at The Conference Center?

There are plenty of parking garages around The Conference Center. Learn more about the event parking information from the WSCC Website.

I want to speak or would like to submit a proposal on behalf of a friend/co-worker. Is there still time?

Yes. While interest has been very strong, we are still looking for and evaluating more potential speakers that could fit our Makers theme. You can submit your speaker requests through our call for speakers form.

How do I motivate my boss to let me go to this conference?

Beg! In the likely event that begging doesn’t work, use a bunch of marketing slang and acronyms like “The top interactive thought leaders will be here talking about [insert acronym] and how the landscape is evolving at a fast pace and we can’t be left out of these conversations.” Also, let them know that all of their competitors are going. That should do the job.

In all seriousness, SIC brings Seattle a world-class technology and digital media event to call our own. Your boss and your company will benefit from the things you'll learn and the connections you can make — and you don't have to book travel and hotel for places like New York, San Francisco, or Austin for SIC! In short, it's a great investment.

How do I know that the content will be relevant to me?

If you work at all in a company that has a website, app or idea then we'll have some special sauce for you to bring back to your office and maybe even make you look like a savior or rock star. We promise and if we don't deliver on our promise to provide rich, engaging and educational content then you can bash us on Twitter with the hashtag #SICSucked and we'll make it better the next year. Also, you still have time to tell us what you want to see, using the hashtag #SICwishlist

If I am a Government employee or Faculty at a University do I qualify for your Student/non-profit discounted ticket?

Yes. We love our government employees and teachers and know that both are always budget challenged. Just be sure to use your .org, .mil, .gov and .edu email addresses respectively when you register.
